The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy has
declared Thursday June 20th to be an action day for elevated levels
of ozone. Pollutants are expected to be in the Unhealthy for
Sensitive Groups range.

The action day is in effect for the following Michigan counties...

St. Clair...Livingston...Oakland...Macomb...Washtenaw...Wayne and
Monroe.

It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor
activities, especially those with respiratory diseases such as
asthma. People and businesses are urged to avoid activities which
can lead to ozone formation. These activities include: refueling
vehicles or topping off when refueling, using gasoline powered
lawn equipment, using charcoal lighter fluid.

Positive activities include: driving less, telecommuting, walking
or bike riding, delaying or combining errands, using water-based
paints.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses to occur.

* WHERE...Lenawee, Livingston, Midland, Monroe, Saginaw, Shiawassee,
and Washtenaw Counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Impacts of heat stress continue to increase
with each consecutive abnormally hot day.

Showers and scattered thunderstorms will expand across the rest of
Southeast Michigan this morning. The rain will diminish to light
rain or drizzle this afternoon. Cloud to ground lightning will be
the main hazard with any thunderstorm this morning.

* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.

* WHERE...All of southeast Michigan.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM EST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Dense fog will persist across the area
today, though some fluctuation in visibility can be expected
through the afternoon hours.

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation. Snow accumulations of up to 4
inches and ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch.

* WHERE...Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee
and Monroe Counties.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous travel. The hazardous conditions are
expected to impact the evening commute today and the morning
commute tomorrow.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Intervals of a light wintry mix including
freezing rain, freezing drizzle, snow, and sleet will continue
through the evening hours. Precipitation intensity then
increases toward midnight through the morning. Snow and sleet
will be most likely for the M-59 corridor through the morning
with some heavy snow possible at times. From Ann Arbor to
Detroit and south, a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is
more likely until temperatures rise above freezing early to mid
afternoon. The heaviest wintry precip rates are likely between
12 AM and 2 PM.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4
inches.

* WHERE...Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe Counties.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches
overnight into Friday lead to snow covered roadways during the
morning commute. Snowfall rates up to a half inch per hour will
be possible Friday morning. Rapid reductions in visibility will
be possible as well.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall from thunderstorms
continues to be possible late today.

* WHERE...The entire Detroit Metro Area and points south, including
the following counties: Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe,
Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne.

* WHEN...From 4 PM EDT this afternoon through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
Low-water crossings may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A very moist airmass coupled with the build up of instability
today will likely lead to showers and thunderstorms this
evening into tonight. Rainfall totals around 1 inch can be
expected for most areas, but the potential exists for
localized totals of 3 inches or more if the training of
thunderstorms occurs.

Low-water crossings may be flooded.

declared Friday June 30th and Saturday July 1st to be an Action Day
for elevated levels of fine particulate (PM2.5) and ozone.
Pollutants are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
to Unhealthy range.

The Action Day is in effect for the following Michigan counties...

St. Clair...Oakland...Macomb...Washtenaw...Wayne...Lenawee and
Monroe.

Smoke originating from wildfires in Quebec, Canada is currently
impacting PM2.5 and ozone concentrations at the surface across much
of the state of Michigan and will continue through Saturday, July
1st. The Air Quality Index is expected to range from the UNHEALTHY
FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS to UNHEALTHY level.

Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including
asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, should limit
prolonged or heavy exertion.

Reduce or eliminate activities that contribute to air pollution,
such as outdoor burning, and use of residential wood burning devices.

Reduce vehicle trips and vehicle idling as much as possible and
reduce refueling your vehicle.

Keep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke from getting indoors
and, if possible, run central air conditioning with MERV-13 or higher
rated filters.
